Columbo vs Poirot

Since I've been in this country I have been reacquainted with my old friend Columbo. The funny thing about it is that I really don't remember any episodes but I knew I loved the show. The detective that solves 100 percent of his cases, never misses a beat, but always looks lost. The only thing about the show that is funny, is that whom ever he spends most of his time with asking questions did the murder. It's not like we didn't see the murder ourselves but it's a great fun to see Columbo makes everyone confess. Just imagine if they never confess and deny that they did it and went to court we would have the makings of the "Law and Order" series. The reason I like him so much is that he never carries a gun, never looks as if he shaves or take showers. Also he talks about his wife and there isn't one episode that she appears, no that's just crazy.

Now I'm not sure if anyone has heard of Agatha Christie the writer, but it seems she had a TV show based on one of her books,"Poirot". A Belgium detective in England helping the weak minded police solve crimes, just like Sherlock homes did. Unlike Sherlock Poirot does not have his arrogance, he's bold when needed and quiet when necessary. Just like Columbo. At first I didn't want to be bothered with another English detective show, had my fill with Sherlock Homes, but after I watched a few episodes it grew on me. Every chance I get I watch it, along with Columbo.

Poirot is a bit different that Columbo, I was watching an episode last week and he was in some resort in the early 90's. The thing is that he was on a beach of some sort fully dressed in his three piece suit and hat, while everyone around him is in bathing suits. That was so funny looking, reminded me of another one of my favorite TV detective MONK. Always fully dressed no matter where he is. So we have sloppy Columbo and uptight Poirot, what a wonder it is to watch these two men at work.
